Going back to Old Asclon? - Guild Wars Forums

Ok, not quite but anyway.

Has anyone here, ever done the quest for Sir Tidus, gone into Old Asclon, and managed to return to the places where we start?

I'm sure its impossible, please tell how if you think you have.

Do you mean entering the academy? Once you've done that and get to seared-Ascalon, there's no going back to the starting areas.

The pre-searing Ascalon area is an "intro" area, to get people accustomed to the game: attacking, using skills, completing quests, etc. If you read the text when you talk to Tidus about entering the academy, he warns you several times that you won't be able to return- a big event happens, meteors rain from the skies, and the world as we know it is destroyed. After all this happens, how are you supposed to go back in time to before everything was destroyed? As far as I know, there's nothing in pre-searing that you can't get in post-searing, though it might be more difficult if you don't get things before entering the academy(have to buy skills instead of get them for free, or find rarer items to get a belt pouch). You can pick up a secondary profession, get skills, get your belt pouch, etc in the post-searing world. Think of pre-searing as a newbie area, with excellent graphics and a laid back environment, and once you've explored that area and your character is ready for the challenges of the "real world", you enter the academy.

Post searing ascalon can seem like a step down the fun ladder at first, but do a few of the co-op missions (great fun) and get yourself to some of the more fun places. Lions Arch seems the place to be in post searing, much nicer there

You can't return for a simple reason: you are in the same place as before, except that Ascalon was burned to the ground by the Chars.
